The nurses at Tripoli Governmental Hospital carried out a sit-in, in which the hospital director Nasser Adra participated, who delivered a speech in which he pointed out that “in light of the compelling circumstances, the hospital continues to provide hospital services to people from live meat,” praising the role of “the white army that makes a great and mighty effort and confronts Corona with courage. He also praised the role of Minister of Public Health, Dr. Firas Abyad, for his efforts to support the public and private health sector.
Then Muhammad Al-Kurdi gave the nurses’ speech in the hospital, saying: “The hospital is depleting day after day, and the winds of crises and challenges blew hour after hour, standing upright, healing the pain and balancing the wounds… a safety valve for community health and safety.”
And he added: “We raise a cry of truth and vigor in defense of the White Army, the nursing body in the private and public sector, which has been burdened by the Corona pandemic and did what it did and is still doing and doing,” calling for “increasing wages and raising the minimum wages for nurses in proportion to the ongoing inflation, with Taking into account all economic and financial indicators, provided that the salary is parallel to the responsibility, the nature of work and the risks to which the nursing sector is exposed.
And he demanded “an increase in the transportation allowance in a way that covers the cost, on the condition that it is equivalent to the price of a can of petrol per week, and to give school aid and incentives to workers in the nursing sector.”
He called for “increasing the number of nurses in hospitals, in proportion to the number of patients, and taking all legal, administrative and security measures to protect them from violence emanating from any party, and obligating government hospitals that have not implemented the series of ranks and salaries to comply with Law 46/2017 and pay all arrears.”

He stressed “the importance of amending the law on the salary and salary chain for government hospitals, correcting the defect in the increase in grades and in increasing the salary for the fourth and fifth categories, amending the day-workers’ system for their fairness and stabilization, working to develop work in primary health care centers, supporting their nursing staff, correcting their salaries and fixing them in their work. “. He also stressed, “the involvement of the union in formulating health policies by involving it in all committees and bodies concerned with the health sector, in addition to deciding the necessary measures to protect the union’s deposits with banks from any measure affecting it or deducting it in contravention of the laws in force.”

The statement concluded: “We hope that the demands will be heeded.”
